Instagram only lets you save a sound inside the app. It never gives you an audio file. On a Windows PC or a Mac you can turn any public video or Reel into an MP3 right in your browser, with no software to install and no Instagram login.
Download Instagram audio on Windows or Mac in four steps
- Open the Instagram video or Reel in your browser and copy the address from the address bar. It looks like

- Paste the link into the box and click Download.
- Wait a few seconds, then save the MP3 when the download starts.
Two ways to get the link on a computer
The simplest way is to open the video and copy the URL from the address bar. You can also click the three dots on the post and choose Copy link. If you are scrolling the feed, open the post or Reel first so the address bar shows that exact video. A link to a profile page will not work, because it does not point to one video.
Where the MP3 goes and how to play it
Your browser saves the file in its normal download location, which is the Downloads folder unless you changed that setting. On Windows, open it from the downloads icon in Chrome or Edge, or from File Explorer. On a Mac, check Downloads in the Dock or Finder. MP3 files play in the default player on both systems, and in VLC or the Music app.

Nothing runs on your computer except the page itself, so any current browser works. If the download does not start, try another browser or turn off extensions for a minute, since some extensions block downloads.
If it does not work
- Private account: only public videos and Reels can be processed.
- Wrong link: use the link to the video, not to the profile or the Explore page.
- Video you cannot open without logging in: the tool cannot read it either.
