How to Set an Instagram Reel Sound as a Ringtone
Instagram does not let you save a Reel's sound as a file, and you cannot set it as a ringtone from inside the app. InstaLoadr takes the audio from a public Reel link, so you get a normal audio file that you can use as a ringtone.
On Android
- Download the audio using the box at the top of this page.
- Open Settings, then Sound (or Sound and vibration), then Phone ringtone.
- Choose Add ringtone or pick from files, and select the file from your Downloads folder.
Menu names differ a little between phone brands. If the file does not show up, use the Files app to move it into the Ringtones folder.
On iPhone
An iPhone cannot pick an ordinary audio file as a ringtone in Settings. The usual way is GarageBand, which is free from the App Store: import the file, trim it to 30 seconds or less, then tap Share, choose Ringtone, press Export, and select Use sound as Standard Ringtone. Menu names can change slightly between iOS versions.
Tips for a good ringtone
- Keep it to 20 to 30 seconds and start from a part with a clear beat or voice.
- Check the volume. Some Reel sounds are quiet and a ringtone should be easy to hear.
- Voice-only sounds can be hard to notice. Music with a clear start usually works better.
Only use audio you have the right to use. The sound in a Reel belongs to its creator or rights holder, so keep it for personal use.
How to Use a Reel Sound as a Ringtone
- Copy the Reel link. Open the Reel in Instagram, tap Share, then Copy link.
- Get the audio. Paste the link in the box at the top of this page and download the audio file.
- Trim it if needed. Ringtones are short. Trim the track to about 30 seconds in any audio editor or your phone's built-in editor.
- Set it as your ringtone. On Android, pick the file under Settings, Sound, Phone ringtone. On iPhone, import it into GarageBand and export it as a ringtone (details below).
Questions
Can I set an Instagram Reel sound as a ringtone directly from Instagram?
No. Instagram does not offer a way to save a Reel's sound as a ringtone. You first need the audio as a file, which is what the tool at the top of this page gives you.
Does it work for private accounts?
No. Only public Reels can be fetched. For a private account or a removed Reel you will see an error.
How long can an iPhone ringtone be?
Keep it to 30 seconds or less. GarageBand shortens longer ringtones to 30 seconds.
Is it free? Do I need to log in?
It is free. You do not need an Instagram account, a login or an app.
Can I use any Reel sound as a ringtone?
You can save the audio from any public Reel, but the music or voice may belong to someone else. Use it for personal use, such as your own phone's ringtone, and do not redistribute it.
Why did I get an error?
Check that the link opens a public Reel in your browser and that you copied the full link. If the Reel is public and it still fails, try again in a minute.
